Fish & Chip Reviews

Clissold Arms, London N2 9HR, 21 June 2014

Hello Hello Hello!!!  How do you spend the longest day of the year?  I collected my first ever medal at 5k vitality RUN Hackney, yey!  Well done me!  I am going to reward myself with cold pints and fish and chips at Clissold Arms.   I deserve it!!

MMM!!! Cold Amstel, perfectly served 10/10!

So much so, I drank so quickly, who cares it's the longest Saturday night.

Then, slight disappointment came.  My 2nd pint was nothing like the first one.  Completely FLAT….  after one small sip, I had to ask to re-do the pint, and they did, it was perfect again.  Though ? in consistency, the important element.

Then, the next disappointment!!!  NO FISH AND CHIPS on the menu.  Of course, I asked.  They came up with 2 suggestions.

1. Make fish and chips from kids menu to adult portion -> Not keen on this as it could be fish fingers!
2. Seabass or salmon WITHOUT batter with chips -> Obviously it is not the same.

Reading the menu, I gathered, here is one of those “gastro pub” stating that “we are unique, too posh for fish and chips”.  I would like to request to all pub chefs.   Fish and chips is a simple dish, this is why your skills are tested.  Do take up the challenge!!!! You are never too posh for fish and chips, I reassure you all!!!

I was fooled by the appearance. Can you imagine this pub does not serve fish and chip?

I am not in hurry to go back here anytime soon.  My journey of fish and chips critic continues.  Good night!
