Old Brewery

Good evening, 2025 is a definitely year of the Fish and Chips, I am accelerating my fish and chips consumption rate this year – it’s the 3rd time since 2025 begins. Here we are in the South, The Old Brewery.

Special attention to my badge

Our friends later confessed that they immediately decided to have fish and chips tonight as soon as they saw my badge – could not take off fish and chips from their mind.

Attention to how they serve mushy peas

Fish 4/4 : Wuuuuuu, how disappointing! Batter too thick yet again! Then importantly I noticed this pub (as much as it looks independent) is under the same chain as Bull & Gate we visited last week. The fish must be cooked under “uniformed recipe”. Somebody please read this and I plead for a review of the recipe. At least, it was not too salty. Only for that, I give an extra point.

Chips : 7/10 Unlike last week, they were not too thick, hot, tasty chips.

Mushy peas: 1/10 Isn’t this strange – how they serve mushy peas? Mushy peas should be a part of the dish (i.e., 1 of 3 – fish, chips, mushy peas), not in the same line as condiments. This presentation is completely wrong. They were not dry as Bull and Gate, but there is no respect paid to mushy peas as an important part of dish, for that harsh rating.

I am not criticising chain – I can understand difficult to survive without big capital behind.

Lastly, we travelled far South for this – absolutely mesmerizing – I lost myself in the space for a long time. Do visit!
