A happy new year! Can you believe – it’s 2026. I clearly remember the celebration welcoming year 2000 – I asked my young colleague, she said “i don’t remember because I was only 2 years old!” ok… whatever…
Deep dive into South to a beautiful village Gomshall. After a nice winter walk, a time for beer and fish and chips at The Gomshall Mill.

Fish 9.9/10 (!!!) Ohhhh… this may be one of the best fish I ever had. Batter – so thin but crispy, never had so thin before. However the batter perfectly coated all around fish without feeling any greasiness – this must be fried in very clean fresh oil at the right temperature and right timing. Fish cooked through – gently flakes in my mouth without much effort which mixed with flavorsome white fish. Absolutely heaven!!!
Chips : 6/10 – a bit disappointed, they are far to thick – I get it “chunky chips” but they are more like “chips shaped roast potatoes”.
Peas : 5/10 quite waterly/diluted texture, this is not “crushed peas” but “well-pureed peas for the people without teeth”. But yes it was mited.
Overall amazing 8/10 because of near perfect fish. Wow, thank you Gomshall Mill!
Good night!
