Hello from Oxford! – what a beautiful city with well controlled (i.e., limited) traffic in the city centre – which definitely provide amazing somehow relaxing vibe adding on top of the intellectual air. Let’s dine at Quod in the city centre.
Yo! Fish and chips on the blackboard as a special tonight! Battered haddock, Chips Mushy peas & tartar sauce for eye watering £21.95!!!
But this is a restaurant, and fish and chips as a special, not on the regular menu. I have to have it.

May be hard to see but the first impression was “what a small plate!”. Is this a trick to make the portion looks bigger?
Fish 6/10 : Fish flesh was thick but over all felt “wet” rather than “juicy” as a texture. Even the batter felt “wet” – far from crunchy particularly middle bit. Though, it was cooked through did not feel undercooked. Strange!
Chips 8/10; Nice freshly cooked with clean oil – but within the expectation for the price.
Mushy peas 5/10 : completely mediocre – nothing to mention
Somehow I have to say it was a bit disappointing – this is supposed to be a “special” – but it did not feel special (e.g., no twist, no adding feature as a special)- it was an expensive standard fish and chips in a small plate served in a posh atmosphere.
Good night!
