A happy new year to you from dark, grey and wet London…. I cannot believe it has been 3 months since I had fish and chips last time! I missed you! The Queens Arms, Pimlico is a perfect place tonight – so warm and dry!

Taking refuge from cold and dump weather, Nice!

The next is to order fish and chips – Beer battered fish and chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce £19 – well… inflation, cost of living crisis, brexit, white fish shortage due to the war, looming global trade war – it is, what is is.

Mushy peas – why so tiny portion?

Fish 9/10 : The satisfactory large fish – but I am suspicious. This must be inflated by the batter – BUT!!!! how wrong was I!!! Fish was actually the size as you seen! Thinly but crispy batter was appropriately coating the fish up to the edge of fish, no evidence of inflation. Fish was cooked though but no hint of overcooking, juicy in my mouth, married with hint of fresh fried oily taste (not greasy – don’t mixed up) and lemon juice from the generous size of freshly cut lemon provided – as well as mixture of crunchy and soft fish texture, piping hot, heaven!

Chips 5/10 : Ohhhh what a shame, those are not cooked at the same time as fish, they were not piping hot, but warm. This was in fact massive disappointment – especially I am enjoying so much of “piping hot fact” of the fish (which is on top of fish tasting as describe above) – this “piping hot fact” provides synergic effect. On the contrary, missing “piping hot fact” dampen down overall value of chips.

Mushy Peas : Not worth mentioning, unable to comment, as portion size too small (a volume of 1 x teaspoon).

My love of fish and chips renewed, see you soon!
