Fish & Chip Reviews

The Tally Ho, North Finchley, London, N12 0BP, 14 November 2014

Good evening.  I am low key today.  I am visiting The Tally Ho at North Finchley.  This is Wetherspoon.  Now, I am not a posh person.  I have been to Wetherspoon pubs before and who haven’t?  Yes of course, I have been to Curry Club Thursday, again, who haven’t?  Still, I cannot say my heart is upbeat with Friday excitement.

I saw this outside of the pub. Shall I be excited for £6.25 Fish and Chips including a pint.

Anyway, let’s have a drink.

Yey! Cool Amstel served in perfect temperature and fizziness in Carlsberg glass.

Wow, one of the best AMSTEL I had in ages in price of less than £3.  Cannot fault this.  10/10.

The second pint in Heineken glass. Who cares? Still was perfect, 10/10 for consistency.

Shocking!!!!!  It was only about 9pm, Fish and Chips were SOLD OUT!.  According to the staff, fish stocks were switched from frozen to fresh approx 1 month ago.  This causes occasional “sold out”.  However, this is perfectly understandable, as a nationwide profit making organization, stock control is the key.  You are still experimenting.  I am totally with you and support your effort.

I had scampi and chips instead.  I won’t say too much as I am not a critic of  scampi and chips.

However, I would like to request any chefs.

Please take the challenge of “taking scampi and chips to the next level” as you did to fish and chips.  Scampi and chips never have received the attention as much as fish and chip despite being a “pub classic”.  Usually scampi are covered in thick breaded coating made them “something of brown with mushy fishy objects”.  I am awaiting for new age scampi and chips.  They deserve better.

I must re-visit the Tally Ho soon.  The atmosphere was not as bad as I anticipated (nobody was fighting or shouting), tables were all clean, staff were pleasant.  Beer was great (CHEAP and Cheerful!) and now we know fish will be fresh.

I cannot wait to taste your fish and chips at £6.25 including a pint.  Good night!
