Wow, I have not updated this blog for the past 7 months since April, shocking. There is a reason. I had a fish and chips at Doggett’s Coat and Badge along Thames in September. It was so shockingly bad and I was deeply traumatised. See below,

I was so disappointed, is this all we get for £21? It actually put me off from fish and chips for ages…
But, today is a new day, we are having happy pints and fish and chips at The Devonshire Arms, Kensington.

Beer-Battered fresh atlantic haddock & chips £21….. this seems to be a standard price.

Fish : 7/10 Could be bigger, but at least the flesh was lovely thick, fluffy texture, cooked just right, batter was not greasy but crunchy, satisfies my guilty pleasure of eating “deep fried food” without feeling too guilty (of having guilty pleasure – make sense?) yey!
Chips : 7/10 Very tasty, well executed, lightly salted, no need any extra sauce. I just could do more of them.
Peas : 4/10 Completely mediocre. Nothing much to report.
Overall happy 6.9/10! I do understand challenging environment for the provider, but also challenging environment for the consumer too – for the £21, we (consumers) expect good quality as well as satisfactory portion size. For that, I have to be harsh as a one of the leading fish and chips critics. Well at least, I recover from the previous trauma.
Good night!
