Hello! We are at the Gun, Spitafield, sampling fish and chips. According to the website this is one of 52 “urban pubs & Bars” group…. wow. Anyway, let’s carry on.
Now, Fish and chips – Beer battered Haddock Pea & Mint puree, tartare sauce, triple cooked chips £20.5 – yes £20.5 – no surprise anymore.
Fish 1/10 : Shocking – initially felt OK, the batter was satisfactory in texture but waterly and unusually soft fish – of course, it’s not fresh, frozen but how long this fish was thawed? Borderline “off” – offensive smell I sensed in the mouth – I could not finish it. But this was as I mentioned borderline – now looking back, I wish I complained
Chips 3/10: It’s ok, but too thick!!!!
Pea and mint puree : 4/10 probably the most safe foods on this plate tonight. But not a lot of it.
Totally disappointed – I am shocked for the quality – Chefs! where is your quality standard?!? I hope, other 51 pubs do not follow the same standard as this, otherwise I have 52 less places to go in the future – Good night!
