Good evening! Here we are 2024, can you believe it? I started this review back in Jan 2014 – 10 years anniversary! Looking back – won an impressive award, survived Brexit and cost of living crisis.
The Duke of Sussex, here we are at the lovely dining are. Of course, ordering our Beer-Battered Market Fish, £18.50. – now this is new, we can choose either “chunky chips” or “skinny fries”. I opeted for skinney fries – but below comparison with chunkey chips my peer ordered.
Fish: 7/10 it’s fine – cooked just right, not over or under – juicy flesh with crunchy batter. But what I recently noticed since “cost of living crisis” is that tendency to inflate fish size with batter. At a glance, those looks decent fish size like before the war (note: previously over 40% white fish imported from Russia) – but under the batter – is this fish as big as its first impression? – you need to be critical (hence critic).
Skinny Fries – 5/10 I regret a bit – Skinney fries don’t do the job as the equal part of the dish (I meant, composition of the dish = Fish (49.5%) and chips (49.5%) peas 1%).
Mushy peas = 5/10 beautiful green colour in eyes is a great accent of the dish but somehow really waterly in the mouth.
All above for £18.50. It’s a lot of money – but it’s fair to say this is current market rate. If you pay £18.50 you should not expect bad food. All I can say is that 10 years ago, I was moaning of £13 – 42% increase in 10 years – is our wage increased by 42% last 10 years?
See you soon!
