Cheers!

I am again, learning from the previous visit, I remember the portion size was small – so opted for large.  Nicholson’s Fish and Chips, Haddock hand-battered in Nicholson’s Pale Ale, with triple cooked chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce £16.0, yes go large for £17.50.

At a glance, from the previous experience, the size of the plate is same for small and large.  The portion sizes of chips and peas are also appeared no difference between small and large.  The difference is that I got an extra piece of fish.

Fish : 9/10 Delicious! Thick fish flesh, juicy – enjoyed ever mouthful with right thickness of crunchy batter – slight oil from batter and fresh juicy fish married in my mouth as each time I chew!  Feel warmth in my stomach thereafter – Heaven! I didn’t mind flakes of sea salt sprinkled on the fish – I did not need extra seasoning.

Chips: 6/10 Ordinary chips, well executed but I expect this from anywhere.

Peas: 6/10 Exactly same impression as previous visit – nothing special but nothing wrong.

Some heated debate regarding “grilled lemon”, one opinion is that by grilling lemon, it takes “sharpness” away and it could almost turn them into sweet – OK, I never thought about that!

Overall very happy – it is just getting normal to pay £17.50 for fish and chips – in fact, it felt “reasonable” – it’s great that we are designed to “get used to” so quickly – otherwise life would be too hard isn’t it!?  Good night!
