Lure Fish Kitchen Dartmouth Park

Here we are again, at the the lure fish kitchen, Dartmouth Park/Tufnell Park/Archway.  I learnt a thing or two from my last visit.  For example, we only need 1 x mushy peas for two.

Little selections for beers. Due to delivery + supply/stock issues – Brexit effect

Today, I opted for whitebait – Devilled Whitebait (Lemon Mayonnaise) £8.50 – this is listed as a starter, but I had them as a main with chips – my peer had Camden Hells beer battered haddock which I had before (rated 8/10), then we had both skinny and Fresh cut, triple cooke chips, both @£4.25.  Then of course, only 1 mushy peas for both of us.

I critique for whitebait today – completely subjective (against my own standard – which I absolutely trust) as always.    5/10! – Sorry for harsh marking.  1.  Should not be served in a metal bucket.  Those sit towards bottom of the bucket were getting soggy very quickly.  2. Too much paprika sprinkled all over – too hot! Whitebait could be a bit “tangy + bitter” as we eat all small fish including head, gut, bones – this is the “thrill”of eating whitebait.  Absolutely no need for this paprika.

Chips 8/10 : both skinny and chunky – good portion sizes, can taste fresh cooked with clean oil – great consistency from the previous visit

Peas : 8/10 Definitely freshly made, while we were waiting, I heard rigorous chopping sound too.  Tasted exactly same as I remembered – cannot eat them too much – annoying after mint taste on my throat.

Overall great consistency – simple good foods – Good night!
