The Lion & Unicorn Kentish Town

Good evening, enjoying ongoing hot summer evenings – I want to celebrate all over again with cold beer and fish and chips, tonight at The Lion and Unicorn, Kentish Town.

Cheers!

Fish & Chips, battered cod fillet, homemade triple cooked chips, smashed minted pea, tartare sauce £18.50.  £18.50 – would I be surprised by this price? No.The Lion & Unicorn Kentish Town

Check this heavily burnt lemon – naff!

Mmmm… the first impression – those dishes are too small, everything is clumped on top of each other.  Yes it’s only fish and chips but we are paying £18.50 – it’s not unreasonable to ask a bit more space?  It was so difficult to eat without foods mashing up each other and jumping out from the dish to the table.

Fish: 8/10 Delicious! The pale looking batter did not provide good impression but unlike how it looked, batter was not too thick, crunchy but not greasy.  Sticking well with thick juicy fish flesh (of course with skin).

Chips 2/10 : Harsh marking is due to “definition” of chips.
The Lion & Unicorn Kentish TownLook the size of this giant potato piece.  They are so thick and giant.  Yes Definitely evidence of triple cook was there, but we argued and agreed, they are not chips.

Peas 5/10; As it says on the tin – smashed minted pea

Continuing our warm summer days – more to come from fish and chips critic, I warn you!
